CAKE DESIGN
We will work with you to design a unique cake for your event. We welcome pictures for inspiration and to get an idea of your vision but we DO NOT duplicate an exact copy of another cake artist’s work because of intellectual property law and our artistic integrity. We will interpret inspirational images to reflect our design flare. A design sketched after consulting with you remains our intellectual property. Please DO NOT share it with another cake vendor if you change your mind about ordering with us.
A sketch is 0nly provided upon receipt of a non refundable, non Transferable Booking fee.
TASTING AND CONSULTATION
While we are happy to correspond via email, we also offer a sit down 1 hour consultation by appointment only. At the appointment you get to sample 4 of our most popular flavours as we discuss your design/cake vision for your event. We ask that you bring your mood boards, invitations, any image or colour schemes that you would like us to use as inspiration. A rough sketch will be provided once a booking fee is received, followed by a full sketch and quote within 7days. Recommended but not exclusive to weddings, our consultation and tasting is open to maximum 4 guests and cost £45.00 Payable at least a week before the appointment .
We also offer tasting boxes which can either be collected from us or we post it to a UK address of your choice. These contains 6 set flavours and are available periodically, you can register your interest by contacting us or look out for advertisements on our social media pages and website. Price to be announced at time of each release.
PAYMENT
We require a NON REFUNDABLE/ NON TRANSFERABLE booking fee to secure all orders. £50 for orders up to the value of £250.00 and 25% of total order value for orders above £250.00. This MUST be paid within 48hours of accepting our quote. Final payment is due 7 days (for celebration orders) and 28 days before collection or delivery date for Wedding cakes. Full payment is required immediately for bookings made 28 days before due date and may be subject to rush order fees if ordered 7 days or less to collection or delivery date.
If balance is not paid at the stated time your order will be treated as cancelled by You.
All payment must be made by Bank Transfer. Details are on invoice
CHANGES
We’ll do our best to accommodate any changes that are made 7 days before the order due date. Please note – extra charges may apply to last-minute changes.
Cancellations/Postponement
If cancelled 28 days in advance for celebration cake or orders less than £250.00 in value and 12 weeks for wedding orders, payments already made will be refunded minus the booking fee and any monies already spent on supplies. No refund will be given if cancelling within 7 days of collection/delivery. If a cancellation is requested after work has been started, there will be no refunds. We will do our best to accommodate postponement if requested a month in advance and prior to 7 days before delivery/collection subject to our availability on the new day.
IN ALL CASES BOOKING FEE REMAINS NON REFUNDABLE.
DELIVERY/COLLECTION AND SET UP
Date and time of delivery/collection will be discussed at time of booking. All our cakes can be collected from our base (address given on request) However we recommend that we deliver all cakes over two tier.
Delivery is available ONLY for orders over £100.00 at cost based on distance. If you require delivery please request this at time of booking and provide a full address including postcode so we can calculate delivery cost.
If we are to deliver your cake, we will give you an arrival time based on information provided by yourself or your venue dresser regarding time the venue will be ready. We charge £45 for setup/installation of cake at Venue (where installation is anticipated to take over 90minutes fees will be discussed separated). This means that we will have your cake correctly displayed. Alternatively we can deliver the cake boxed to the contact person.
We will require name and telephone of a contact person to liase with at the venue. It is also your responsibility to make sure that a cake table is ready, decorated (unless otherwise agreed) and situated at its permanent location for the occasion before we arrive.
Once delivered and set up we will not be held liable for any damage that occurs due to cake being moved or environmental. Failure to have the cake table ready will incur £25 per hour after the first hour from our arrival.
We will endeavour to deliver at the agreed time. Please be patient with us in the unlikely event of anything out of our control example weather or traffic situation. The Maximum compensation we will give for late delivery is refund of delivery fee and set up fee where applicable.
NON-EDIBLES
Our cakes can include non-edible items which can include inedible or toxic plants & flowers on/in the cake.
We’ll let you know which pieces cannot be eaten. It is your responsibility to ensure they are removed before serving and not ingested by your guests.
RELEASE AND LIABILITY
We will work closely with you to design your cake and ensure that you are happy with the end product.
Please inspect your cake closely before collection or upon delivery so as to give us the opportunity to discuss/rectify any issue you may have.
Should we encounter any issues/ difficulties with producing your order to your specification and we will communicate with you and offer alternatives in such circumstances.
Once order is no longer in our care (delivered or picked up) We take no responsibility for any damage caused. (See below for safe transportation and care details).
MEDIA
We reserve the right to use all photographs of the cake for advertising purposes. Where an identifiable information (excluding name and age) is used we will remove the information before using unless we have a written consent from client.
COMPLAINTS
In the unlikely event of complaint in regards to the quality of the cake then a minimum of ¾ of the cake must be returned to us as soon as possible after cutting and within 24 hours of collection/delivery to ensure that we are able to fairly assess the nature of the complaint.

Complaints received 7days after the cake had been collected/delivered will not be dealt with.

No refund will be given due to difference in artistic interpretation, design or colour except in cases where a physical colour swatch was provided.

Any refund will be given at the discretion of K Kakes.

Please note we can only deal with the client who placed the original order.
CAKE COLLECTION
Cakes are extremely fragile.
K Kakes is not responsible for the cake, once it leaves the premises.
We will not replace or refund damaged cakes. We take photos of your cake just before it leaves the premises to ensure cake is intact and as ordered. Please inspect your cake before leaving.
When picking up, here are a few important tips:
Bring an enclosed, air-conditioned vehicle with a flat/level surface to set the cake on. (Seats and laps are not level!) A minivan, SUV, station wagon or hatchback are best.
CLEAR vehicle space of loose objects that could fall onto or roll into the cake.
Keep cake as cold as possible during transport, and away from sunlight. Sunlight is very damaging to a cake as it melts and undermines stability.
Drive carefully. Turns, stops and starts should be performed in an EXAGGERATEDLY SLOW manner. Avoid bumps, jiggling, hills, and use a very slow speed on curves.
Cakes should not be kept in a car any longer than absolutely necessary! and MUST be stored in a cool place away from direct Sunlight.
